Widespread boycott of Zionist goods in Egypt
Egyptian citizens have widely boycotted goods that bring economic benefit to the Zionist regime. |
According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, Egyptian citizens have boycotted the products of countries that support the Israeli regime, including Coca-Cola, Starbucks and McDonald’s, at the same time as the extensive crimes of the occupying Al-Quds regime in Gaza.
The widespread embargo of goods that some kind of profit from their sale goes into the pockets of Zionists is not unique to Egypt, and these days many Islamic and even non-Islamic countries have started doing this; But in Egypt, this issue is manifested more clearly; By boycotting these brands, the Egyptians have opened the way for domestic brands and products of their own country, such as Spiro Spots soft drinks. All of West Asia has been subject to boycotts, and consumers are turning to local alternatives in protest of Western governments’ support for Israel amid the Gaza war. including McDonald’s, Starbucks, Coca-Cola and Domino’s Pizza, along with Germany’s Puma and French supermarket chain Carrefour; So that a large part of the Egyptian people have been able to use the “weapon of sanctions” to inflict huge losses on international companies because of their support for Israel; To the extent that the campaign to boycott pro-Israel products has greatly affected the sales of large international companies and has reduced their sales share in the Egyptian market.

Also, the people’s boycott has reached the point where, due to the decrease in sales, these companies started thinking about how to attract citizens to buy their products again by offering competitive offers. In this regard, providing discounts is one of the main strategies of these companies that “Ariel” (a product of the multinational company Procter & Gamble) and “Persil” (belonging to Henkel and Unilever) have done this.
Other companies specializing in food and international brands of electrical appliances have also joined this collection, and among these products, you can offer discounts on food products, soft drinks, drinking water, tea, detergents, washing powders, and hair products. Egyptian customers have done it.
On the other hand, Al Jazeera also wrote that following the widespread boycott of Western products, “Spiro Spots” company, as an Egyptian company that produces carbonated drinks, was forced to has been able to triple the number of its personnel and yet it is still not able to respond to the high number of orders from restaurants and hotels.
According to this report, in the last month this Egyptian company has increased its number of personnel from 60,000 to 180,000 and is still hiring. Egyptian flags are raised together with the Palestinian flag.

Next to an Egyptian restaurant, eight-year-old Talia Wael said to Al Jazeera why she doesn’t eat McDonald’s: “Israel is the whole of Palestine.” It is taken and only Gaza is left; children are dying…nowhere is safe, neither hospitals nor schools. We do not live off the blood of our brothers, McDonald’s restaurant sends free food to Israeli soldiers”.
The campaign to boycott Zionist goods in Egypt was formed as a continuation of the global “Boycott” campaign in 2015. Hossam Mahmoud, one of the founders of this campaign, told Sputnik that the economy of the Israeli regime is in dire straits in the current situation, and this is just the first effects of the war, which has cost Israel more than 30 billion dollars so far.
In this regard, Amir Yaron, the head of the Central Bank of the Zionist regime, said two days ago that the war in the Gaza Strip is costing the regime “more than expected” and is putting pressure on its budget.
The Institute for Internal Security Studies of the Zionist regime earlier, referring to the initial forecasts of the economic effects of the war, which were presented by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of this regime, emphasized that the continuation of the war has important and long-term consequences. It will affect Israel’s economy.
The Ministry of Finance of the Zionist regime has estimated that the total direct and indirect cost of the war will reach about one billion shekels ($250 million) per day, according to the Security Studies Institute. Inside the Zionist regime, these expectations are based on the scenario of a war on only one front against Gaza, that is, in the north of occupied Palestine, without expanding in the region.
