Beijing: We will not surrender even a single part of our land
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China said today that Beijing does not covet the land of any country, but it will not give up even one part of its territory in the South China Sea. |
According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, as the time of the US-China summit in “San Francisco” with the agenda of bilateral relations and deep discussions is approaching, Beijing once again asserted its ownership right over the South Sea.
“Mao Ning”, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said today (Monday) that Beijing does not covet the land of any country, but it will not give up even an inch of its territory in the South China Sea.
According to “Sputnik” news agency, Mao explained during a press conference: “China has repeatedly clarified the nature of the South China Sea issue and its principled position. We do not need a land that is not Chinese, but we will not give up a piece of Chinese land.” Beneficiary countries should stop over land and sea, he said: “[America] should not use such issues to suppress and contain China”. He stressed that the situation in the region is usually complicated by the passage of American warships that violate international laws and undermine China’s sovereignty and security.
According to Sputnik, the Chinese government recently (2023) published their “standard map” showing the disputed areas. The map featured a “9-dash line” indicating China’s claims to most of the South China Sea. Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines are involved in the conflict over these areas to varying degrees.
