Barbok urged Azerbaijan and Armenia to return to the Brussels negotiation process, adding that Europe supports real security, trust and peace in the region.
At the European Union summit held in October, the heads of state and government of the European Union emphasized that they are committed to the normalization of relations Azerbaijan and Armenia are based on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders and achieving sustainable peace in the region, as well as the importance of guaranteeing the rights and security of the Armenians of Karabakh.
Continue to discuss in this direction. Also, the ways of expanding the mission of the European Union in Armenia will be discussed in a meeting chaired by Joseph Burrell, the high representative of the Union in foreign affairs. It was supposed to be held in Grenada on October 5 with the presence of the leaders of the European Union, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Germany and France, but did not participate, and the reason for that was France’s biased position in defense of Armenia and not allowing Turkey to attend the meeting.
After that, the meeting planned for the end of October between the leaders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Brussels with the mediation of Charles Michel, the President of the Council of the European Union, did not take place.
The European Union reports that Michel continues his contacts with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia to continue the normalization process and Brussels-style meetings. German Foreign Minister Berbuk said in Baku that Azerbaijan supports the signing of the peace treaty with Armenia and the regional peace agenda.
