According to Fars News Agency, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met with Chinese President Xi Jinping today (Friday) on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Association meeting in San Francisco.
During a press conference after this meeting, Kishida told the media that he expressed his concern to the Chinese President regarding the military activities and cooperation between China and Russia in the areas near Japan.
According to “Sputnik” news agency, he explained that in his meeting with Xi, he demanded the cancellation of the ban on importing Japanese seafood to China, due to the release of wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea.
According to this report, the Japanese Prime Minister further demanded the removal of sea barriers installed by Chinese ships in the exclusive economic zone of the Senkaku Islands and expressed his serious concern about the situation in the East China Sea.
Previously, China’s Ministry of Defense said that Japan is moving forward in its military development and has increasingly become a factor of instability in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to Sputnik, the ministry stressed that cooperation between countries in the field of defense should not harm the interests of third parties and endanger the peace and security of the region.
