During this trip, he is going to talk with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as part of the ongoing efforts to normalize relations between the two countries. Turkey and Greece have long been at odds. They disagree about the maritime borders in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. The problem of Cyprus and other regional issues, especially the war between Russia and Ukraine, will also be on their agenda. Last year, the president of Turkey stopped the bilateral negotiations due to the dispute over the violation of airspace by Greece. Relations between these two neighboring countries improved when Greece was one of the first countries to send aid to Turkey to help victims of the earthquake.
