The Zionist regime destroyed the only grain mill in Gaza
In the continuation of its criminal attacks on the Gaza Strip, the Zionist regime targeted the only active grain mill in this strip. |
According to Fars News Agency, Turkish media reported that the failure of the main grain mill in the Gaza Strip has increased concerns about the situation of the people of this region.
A flour distributor told “Anatolia News Agency” that the only active grain mill in Barikeh under the siege of Gaza was recently damaged and stopped working due to heavy bombardment by the Zionist regime army last Wednesday.
The closure of this mill increases the problems of the people of Gaza because the Palestinian government cannot import wheat flour according to an international agreement and must buy this essential product from Israeli sellers.
This distributor added. According to the Paris Trade Agreement, the Gaza Strip is affiliated to the Palestinian Authority. According to this agreement, Palestinian buyers cannot import flour directly from flour-producing countries, but must instead buy flour from Israeli sellers and store it in silos. “
He called Salam Mill “the largest mill producing wheat flour in Gaza” and said: “This mill had the highest production and storage capacity of 7000 tons of flour. Before the war, this mill produced 350 tons of flour and about 100 tons of animal feed. Tons decreased.”
According to Turkey’s “TRT” base, since the beginning of the war between the Zionist regime and Hamas, the mills in Gaza have received diesel fuel from the Palestinian Refugee Relief and Work Agency. The United Nations received in the Near East (UNRWA) to produce wheat flour and other goods. We produced livestock and worked 24 hours a day. During the war, our working hours were reduced to 12 hours because we could no longer sleep in the mills due to the bombing of the area. It makes humanitarian communication very difficult. After Israel bombed about 10 bakeries in Gaza, queuing up to receive bread has become a worrying and unsafe issue. He said in a press conference on Friday: “Now, due to the lack of fuel, no bakeries are open in northern Gaza. Only nine bakeries are active in the south of this encircled area.”
The World Food Organization affiliated with the United Nations warned on Friday that the Gaza Strip is facing the prospect of widespread hunger.
