According to the regional office of Tasnim News, “Scott Smith, the head of the political department of the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), said in a meeting with the officials of the Taliban Prime Minister’s Office that the United Nations will soon discuss the issue of recognizing the Taliban by choosing a decisive international meeting.
He added that efforts have been made to invite representatives of the Taliban government to this meeting, which will be held with the presence of representatives of 20 countries.
Smith said in this meeting that the situation of human rights, humanitarian aid, the return of Afghan refugees and also the issue of recognizing the Taliban government will be discussed in this important meeting.
UNAMA has announced in an announcement that a number of well-known figures from Afghanistan will also attend this meeting.
The United Nations also held a meeting in February of this year in which women’s rights, the formation of a comprehensive government and the fight against terrorist groups were mentioned as the most important conditions for the recognition of the Taliban.
However, “Antonio Guterres”, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, commissioned a delegation after this meeting to conduct further investigations to gather the countries’ opinions on a joint action for the future of Afghanistan.
“Zabihullah Mujahid”, the spokesman of the Taliban government, has recently said that as long as the United Nations does not recognize the government of Kabul, they are not required to comply with the rules of this organization. .
