Tension and scandal in two Turkish nationalist parties

It is interesting that now two nationalist parties are in trouble, both of them have authoritarian leaders, and they were not expected to face financial and security charges this easily.

In the situation that the Justice and Development Party in the middle of the economic crisis does not have a clear solution and plan to end the inflation and the difficult living conditions of the people, both the nationalist parties under the leadership of Baghcheli and Akhsner, These days, in addition to domestic political problems, they face widespread economic and security accusations and are in a bad situation.

Two Nationalist party and several heavy charges

A murder, a threat and a significant arrest. This is what can be said about Erdogan’s partner party, the National Movement Party.

Last year, in an armed attack, Sinan Atash, the head of the “Kemalist Associations” (ÜLKÜCÜ OCAKLARI) The murder happened. This association is, in fact, a very important and influential old institution, which is one of the organs and subgroups of the Baghchali party. The task of this association is to advertise to highlight the identity and race of Turks inside and outside of Turkey, and in addition to Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan, it has many offices and branches in Germany, Cyprus and several other countries.

Launching demonstrations, armed attacks, intimidation and threats, fighting with Kurds, Armenians and any group critical of Turks, are the usual actions of perfectionist Turks, most of whose members are armed with small arms, clubs and knives.

This institution has two important features: First, it is a very young organization and the average age of its members does not even reach 30 years. Second, it is known as a neo-fascist and pan-Turkish organization and it has been proposed many times in the European Union to add their name to the list of terrorist groups.

However, not in Turkey. And not abroad, no one opposes this far-right group, and Sinan Atash, who was the first university figure to be appointed as its president, was killed by unknown people. The result was not reached with Baghcheli’s direct intervention, and everyone understood that there was an internal settlement involved, and in addition to the former Minister of Justice, Suleiman Soylu, the former Minister of the country and one of the people very close to Baghcheli, prevented the investigation.

But Ali Yerli Kaya, the current Minister of Interior of Turkey, started the case again and arrested the accused who has a very high position in the National Movement Party and is one of his trusted youths. He had threatened the judge of the case in several Twitter posts and no one stopped him.

But Yerli Kaya arrested him, and this caused the discussion to be contaminated once again. If Erdogan’s partner party comes to security affairs, their partnership accounts will be in trouble. Because everyone knows that in the modern history of Turkey, the National Movement Party has always supported the settlement of accounts, armed attacks and the elimination and assassination of opponents, and no one should investigate this matter.

The arrest of the accused again brought up the issue of the infamy of Baghçeli government’s affiliated institutions, and on the other hand, the Good Party, which is known as the second most important nationalist party in Turkey and happened to branch off from Baghçeli’s party, has been contaminated with other issues.

The level of tension, pollution and internal problems in Mrs. Akhsner’s party is much higher than in Baghcheli’s party. First, in a short period of time, 5 representatives of the Good Party and more than 13 of its prominent leaders and deputies resigned, and it is said that the struggle over power and material interests was one of the most important reasons for internal disputes.

Secondly, several mayors of the Good Party and Mrs. Meral Aksner and her family have been accused of rent-seeking and financial corruption. But recently, something else has happened that has made the situation more difficult for Actionner.

Kamal Ozkiraz, the former CEO of Eurasia Research Company, has reported another corruption, which is a scandal for Actionner’s party.

He announced that one of the deputy leaders of the Good Party met with him a month before the elections and promised him “if you show in the results of the polls As people’s desire to vote for our party has increased, we are ready to deposit large monthly salaries into your account for several years. I gave them my negative answer on WhatsApp so that they don’t create any problems later. They wanted their party’s name to be raised as the most important opposition party to Erdogan, and they openly declared that they are not interested in Kılıçdaroğlu.” He further said: “That day, without delay I explained this to Kemal Kilicdaroglu and showed him the screenshot. I asked for permission to disclose the issue. But he did not allow the spirit of the coalition and the fans to be hurt. He firmly said not to raise his voice”.

These words of Özkiraz were announced in a TV interview and caused widespread reactions against Actionner.

The political institution in Turkey is corrupt and problematic

Osman Sert, one of Turkey’s leading analysts, believes that there are events happening in this country right now, all of which can be considered as important indicators and signs. The signs that say, in the Turkish political establishment, both in the ruling party and in the opposition, the era of “interruption” and stagnation have begun. He wrote: “Almost all parties, from the ruling party to the opposition, are in trouble and do not achieve stability and peace. It was predicted that after the 2023 elections, the political atmosphere of Türkiye will change. If the opposition had won, a turbulent transition process would have ensued. However, the victory of the established government in the elections could not prevent the tension and disorganization of the political establishment. Now we even see differences between Erdoğan’s party and Baghçeli’s party. With the arrival of Yerli Kaya to the Ministry of Interior, it is now possible to confront the illegal and violent actions of the Kemalist Association, and the arrest of an official of the Baghcheli party on the charge of being involved in the murder of Sinan Atash is a very important event. Everyone knew that Sinan Atash’s murder was somehow related to the National Movement Party, but no one dared to act. But the new minister of the country did not hesitate and serious tension has arisen. We saw that Baghçeli also rejected Erdogan’s proposal to change the presidential vote quota. There are also many problems in the good party. The greatest chaos has happened in Meral Actionner’s party. The leading figures of the party are resigning one by one, and heavy accusations have been made against Akhsner and his people. Both the crisis in Erdoğan-Baghçeli relations and the tension, violations and scandals in the opposition parties have a direct negative impact on the lives of the people and the state of the country. But apparently people can only watch in the meantime. This means chaos and destruction in the political institution of the country. Unfortunately, the government is not only unable to advance the country but also unable to maintain stability and the current situation. Trust as the biggest social asset has been lost and the gap between parties and people is getting bigger and bigger”.

In the end, it should be said that, on the eve of holding Turkish municipal elections, problems will arise. Internally, the two most important parties in Turkey are largely in favor of Akparty or the ruling party, and it is not unlikely that we will see more important developments in the two nationalist parties in the coming months.
