Armenian senior officials have repeatedly pointed out the importance of relations with Iran. Iran is one of the biggest exporters of goods to Armenia. Iran has a trade center in Armenia. It is said that Iran plans to increase the trade volume with Armenia to three billion dollars. It imports gas from Iran. In August 2023, Armenia and Iran signed a document to extend the natural gas contract for electricity until 2030. Based on this revised agreement, Iran will increase natural gas exports to Armenia and Armenia will increase electricity exports to Iran.
This senior government official Armenia said that Iran’s natural gas pipeline to Armenia has the capacity to transfer more gas than Iran and there is no need for a new pipeline.
