Assurance of the European Union regarding the continuation of financing of important projects in Tajikistan

According to the Fars news agency reporter, the 10th meeting of the cooperation committee between Tajikistan and the European Union was held in Brussels. During this meeting, it was stated that the new program of the Union Europe in Tajikistan has been developed for the years 2027-2024 and its budget will be determined in 2024.
The two sides also discussed progress in preparing a new partnership and cooperation agreement between Tajikistan and the European Union. They gave a positive assessment and emphasized the need to accelerate its coordination process.
It was noted that since 2012, the European Union has allocated 345 million euros for the economic development of Tajikistan, and in 2022, the trade turnover between the two The party has reached 490 million dollars.
The head of the Central Asia Department of the European Commission stated that 91 million dollars will be allocated to Tajikistan in the framework of the first phase of the European Union’s flagship program for 2024-2021. .
Another 80 million euros have been allocated for Tajikistan’s priority projects, including the Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA) and the Central Asian Drug Prevention Program (CADAP).
In addition, according to him, the European Union, in response to Tajikistan’s request, extended the budgetary support for this country and allocated 30 million euros for these purposes, of which 4 million were previously allocated.
He added: The European Union has also launched “ready-for-trade” supply chain development projects in the textile sector and reforms in the energy sector in the amount of 64.5 million euros.
Zuqizadeh, in his turn, while providing brief information about Tajikistan’s achievements, asked the European Union to finance the priority areas of this country’s development, including in the field of green energy (construction of hydropower plants), industry , increase agriculture, transportation and logistics and digitization.
The Tajik side also allocates funds to the European side for the construction of the “Ragun” hydropower plant and projects such as “Green Economy Development Strategy” , “Medium-term program for the development of the digital economy until 2025”, “Development of social infrastructure”, the program to prevent the spread of drug addiction in Central Asia and the creation of multifunctional communication technologies between the structures of the border forces of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan proposed. /p>
The representative of the European Union highly appreciated Tajikistan’s achievements in the field of economic and social development and expressed readiness to allocate funds to the mentioned priority sectors.
