While pointing out that Europe has been harmed by anti-Russian sanctions, the Kremlin spokesman said that the gathering of Finnish forces on the border with Russia could increase tensions. |
According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson of the Russian Federation Presidency, said today (Wednesday) that the European Union is witnessing the boomerang effect and suffering from the sanctions against Moscow.
Pskov said during a press conference in the Kremlin: “Europe could continue without Russia, but by buying [energy] at exorbitant prices from others, it will lose its competitive advantage.”
According to “Sputnik” news agency, while pointing to the movement of the Russian economy in the direction of guaranteed growth and stability despite unprecedented restrictions and sanctions, he explained: “In Europe, they are witnessing the return of sanctions against Russia.”
Kremlin spokesman said about the deployment of Finnish military forces near the Russian border: “This is an excessive measure because there is no threat to Helsinki. The gathering of Finnish forces on the border with Russia can increase tensions, and they should know that this is a threat against Russia.” According to this report, Peskov also stated about the outlook of Russia’s foreign relations: “It is difficult to predict that the position of the West will change unpredictably. But Russia is still interested in establishing good relations with all the countries that want to do this.” Ukraine also said: “They accuse Russia of everything, even when they themselves are in the concrete of the story.” Emphasizing the need for a significant change in American policy, he said that there is currently no basis for a dialogue between Moscow and Washington about the strategic stability of the world.
