According to the Fars news agency reporter, in Dushanbe, within the framework of the visit of an Azerbaijani delegation led by the country’s economy minister to Turkmenistan, the seventh meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and trade conference of the two countries was held.
In the seventh meeting of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, which was held under the chairmanship of Batyr Atdayev, the deputy prime minister of Turkmenistan and Mikael Jabaraf, the minister of economy of Azerbaijan, the process of implementing the decisions of the sixth term of this commission and also The current situation and prospects for the development of bilateral commercial and economic relations were reviewed and the dynamic trend of increasing bilateral trade was pointed out. and communication, agriculture and food industry, environmental protection, urban planning and architecture, as well as humanitarian. The parties also agreed on the active participation of private sector representatives of the two countries in business events that will be held in the territory of both countries, they agreed and pointed to the high level of development of cooperation in the gas industry between the state company “Turkmengaz” and the state oil company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and welcomed the opening of the SOCAR representative office in Ashgabat. At the end of the 7th meeting of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, a related protocol was signed.
The 8th meeting of the said commission will be hosted by Azerbaijan in Baku.
In the framework of the trip of the Azerbaijani delegation to Turkmenistan, a business conference was held in Ashgabat with the participation of representatives of the ministries, institutions and agencies of the two countries, as well as a large number of representatives of various companies operating in the oil and gas industry. Textile and food, agriculture, construction and production of building materials, pharmaceutical industry, transportation and logistics and information technologies were held. Trust was held, taking into account the emerging prospects and the existing positive experience of mutual cooperation, approaches to create more business partnerships in a number of key areas were determined. Long-term cooperation, they presented specific proposals on further increasing trade exchanges, expanding and diversifying mutually beneficial economic partnership. He pointed to the dynamic nature of the development of friendly relations between the two countries and, in this regard, emphasized the special role of high-level meetings and negotiations to strengthen political and diplomatic dialogue. Business and economic cooperation pointed to the continuous increase in turnover, and at the same time, the need to search for new forms of cooperation and the readiness of the parties to take further steps to expand trade relations.
During the negotiations Special attention was paid to the interaction of the two countries in the fuel and energy sector, and the current status of Turkmenistan’s gas supply to Azerbaijan and its prospects were exchanged. At the same time, the possibility of transferring electricity from Ashgabat to Baku was discussed.
In the framework of this visit, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan also met and talked with “Sardar Bardimohamedov”, the President of Turkmenistan.
In this meeting, Berdimohamadov pointed to the successful development of relations between the two countries in various fields and the need to strengthen the role of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation as a coordinating body for the development of relations in commercial, economic, He emphasized energy, transportation and communication, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian.
In another part, the two sides discussed the prospect of further development of traditional cooperation and the importance of using the suitable geographical location of the two countries. The neighborhood, which enables the implementation of joint projects on an international scale, focused on cooperation in the field of energy supply, expanding trade relations using the potential of sea ports and intensifying the transportation of goods through the Caspian Sea, creating transport corridors that many connect countries and also includes interaction in the field of communication.
The parties also emphasized their mutual interest in expanding fruitful dialogue in cultural, scientific and educational fields. which is undoubtedly a solid basis for strengthening the relations between the two brotherly nations.
