According to Webangah News quoted by Tasnim News agency, the Turkish parliament requested the president of this country to extend two approved the presence of Turkish troops in Libya.
In the memo sent by Erdogan to the parliament, it was stated that the purpose of sending Turkish troops to Libya is to protect national interests within the framework of international laws and to take all necessary precautions against security risks. which originates from illegal armed groups in Libya.
Turkey, in the second half of 2019, based on the memorandum of understanding on military cooperation that Erdogan signed with Fayez al-Sarraj, the former head of the Libyan Government of National Accord, has deployed its military forces. He sent thousands of mercenaries from Syria to military bases in various regions of western Libya. The Libyan parliament, which does not recognize the military agreement, opposes the presence of Turkey in this country. However, the national unity government and supporting parties agree with this agreement.
