According to the Israeli military law (before this bill), a soldier must serve in the reserve forces until the age of 40; This amount is 45 years for officers. According to the new law, soldiers from the age of 46 and officers from the age of 50 are removed from the reserve forces. When each soldier’s duty period (21 months) is over, he is transferred to a reserve unit and must serve 39 days a year and be called up whenever necessary.
Since the beginning of the war in Gaza on October 7 (15 Mehr), the Israeli army has called up more than 360,000 people from its reserve forces.
In the meantime, Colonel Ishaq Bin Bashit, the commander of the Yeftah Brigade (Reserve Rangers), was killed on Monday in a fierce battle in the Al-Shajaiyah area in northern Gaza. He passed away while he was leaving the ranks of the reserve forces in a year.
