Al-Arabi al-Jadeed’s account of efforts to start indirect negotiations between Hamas and Tel Aviv

A newspaper close to Qatar claimed that mediators are trying to resume prisoner exchange negotiations between Hamas and the Zionist regime, but Hamas continues to insist on its demands.

The first stage of the exchange of Palestinian and Israeli prisoners, which lasted for a week, took place with the mediation of Qatar, Egypt and the United States. This exchange ended on December 1 (12 days ago), during which 84 Israeli prisoners and 240 Palestinian prisoners were exchanged. They have offered to exchange prisoners in exchange for a humanitarian ceasefire, but Hamas has announced its position and said that without a complete ceasefire, it will not accept any offer and negotiations will not begin.

These sources They also reported that the Zionist regime tried to force this movement to start negotiations by leaking news about the possibility of pumping water into Hamas tunnels. In this report, it is also claimed that in this agreement, 3 senior officers of the Zionist regime will be exchanged, whom Hamas captured.

At the same time, the said source claimed that Tel Aviv – according to this agreement – will commit to about 300 Palestinian prisoners, in addition to 3 prisoners with heavy convictions, including “Marwan Al-Barghouti”, a member Free the leader of the Fatah Movement. Osameh Hamdan, one of the senior officials of Hamas, also denied the reports published in some media last Tuesday about indirect negotiations with the Zionist regime for the exchange of prisoners.

At the same time, this senior Hamas official emphasized: “Until the end of the aggression against Gaza, there is no talk about the exchange of prisoners.”

Osame Hamdan made these statements in response to the report of Channel 12 of Israel TV, which claimed that Tel Aviv is ready to resume communication with mediators and to release the rest of the captives.
