Israel and the language and identity war
Israel is not only indifferent to the linguistic and cultural rights of the original Palestinian Arabs; Rather, he ignores the linguistic, cultural and social rights of his fellow Jewish immigrants. |
Fars News Agency International Group, Dr. Ruhollah Sayadinejad: With the conclusion of the Balfour Agreement in 1948, Israel was formed like an island in the heart of the Arab countries. The Israeli regime began to move Jews from the continents of Europe, Africa and Asia to the occupied Palestine in order to disrupt the composition of the population. In the 1980s, nearly 750,000 Russians migrated to this land.
Their migration to this land is not for ideological purposes; Rather, it is because of the poor living conditions and poverty that is the result of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Currently, 4.8 million Jews and 1.5 million Arabs live in occupied Palestine.
The immigration of Jews from different nations and races to occupied Palestine caused the crowding of different languages; So that there are 33 living languages and 3 dead languages in this region. After the domination of the Zionists on this land, the Arabic language, which was the language of the majority in the past, became the language of the minority. It should be noted that although Arabic language is mentioned after Hebrew as the official language in the constitution of the state of Israel; But this is limited to the line and not the verb; Because the recognition of the Israeli government in the Arabic language means the recognition of the Arab ethnicity, and this is not what they want. In other words, the view of the Zionist state of Israel towards the Arabic language is the view of the language of a religious minority, not the view of the language of an ethnic minority. By showing the Arabic language as ineffective, Israel is trying to introduce it as a backward and traditional language that is incapable of including the terms of technology and modern technologies. The Jewish-Israeli government accuses the original Arabs of occupied Palestine of language duality (Daiglossia); It means that they write in eloquent language but speak in vernacular and by labeling them as cultural schizophrenics, they try to separate Palestinian Arabs from their original identity and culture. They keep saying in their ears that you are the Arabs of Israel, not the Arabs of Palestine, in order to separate them from the Arab nation.
Israel’s view of the Arabic language and culture is a security view rather than a civil and cultural one; From their point of view, the Arabic language and culture is the language and culture of the enemy. It is certain that “the guardians of Arabic language education in occupied Palestine are mostly military institutions rather than education” (Amara, Muhammad, 2010: اللغة العربية في يسرايل: Siyaqat wa Tadhyat, p. 183). The Israeli government emptied the contents of Arab children’s textbooks from the original and pure Islamic culture and filled them with Jewish culture, Torah, heroes, myths and prophets, so that it can make Arab children sincere and loyal to the Jewish-Zionist culture. .
The Israeli government formed three committees – the Negev Committee, the Kiren Committee, the Naming Committee – the names of 9,000 places from seas, mountains, rivers, castles, cities, villages, etc. from Arabic He changed it to Hebrew in order to destroy the material and spiritual property of the Arabs on this land (cf. the same source, 2010: p. 134). They changed the name of Palestine to “Land of Israel”, the name of “Al-Aqsa Mosque” to “Temple or Temple of Suleiman” and the name of “Al-Baraq Wall” to “Al-Haat al-Gharbi or Al-Mabaki Wall”; Because they are well aware that historical memory plays a huge role in the formation of a nation. They consider the naming operation a type of occupation operation that the Israeli army carried out in 1948. It is certain that the ideologue of the Zionists, Ben Gorbon, encourages them to continue the naming operation in order to save the entire land of Israel from the control of the Arabic language. (The same source, 2010: p. 131).
Israel is not only indifferent to the linguistic and cultural rights of the original Palestinian Arabs; Rather, he ignores the linguistic, cultural and social rights of his fellow Jewish immigrants. They put the “Yiddish” language, the language of the Eastern European Jews, the “Sefaradi” language, the language of the Jews of Portugal and Spain, etc. in trouble, and by following the hot furnace policy (social integration) they are trying to destroy it through educational and financial means. Taking away the religious, cultural, linguistic, social and economic differences of the immigrants so that they can build a unified nation. By focusing on the Ashkenazi language (the language of the Torah and ancient Jewish literature), they force the immigrants to melt into the Jewish-Zionist culture. “David Ben Gorbon”, the head of the Zionist Labor Party, believes that “immigrant Jews are human particles who lack roots, education, language, and culture and should acquire all Ashkenazi characteristics” (Gohari Moghadam, Abuzar; Pakdaman, Mohammad, 2018: Review of the Melting Furnace Strategy (or social integration) in the Zionist regime…, p. 45). In fact, the Zionist policy is the policy of “serving oneself and ignoring others”.
One of the most important achievements of the Israeli government is the revival of the Hebrew language and Jewish identity. Their goal is to revive the Hebrew language, build social identity, political identity, and build a modern and new nation. Israel has miraculously been able to revive a language that has been in exile for about 2000 years and was a “semi-dead” language and turned it into a “semi-natural” language (Al-Fasi Al-Fahri, Abdul Qadir, (2014), Al-Siyasah Al-Laghuiya and Al-Thathitit Masar and Al-Madaqs, p. 48). To strengthen their political and social identity, they have no choice but to revive and strengthen the Hebrew language.
