According to the report of Fars International News Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday evening, in response to the adoption of a resolution in the UN Security Council regarding the Gaza Strip, said that this resolution is not beneficial for the humanitarian situation in this area.
While pointing out that the need to stop the war in the Gaza Strip is not mentioned in this resolution, this ministry explained that despite the heavy attacks and bombings, no humanitarian aid can be delivered to Gaza.
According to “Sputnik” news agency, it is stated in this statement: “Russia abstained from the 2720 resolution because it received requests from representatives of Palestine and Arab countries”.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also added: “Now it is important to take action to restore the political perspective in the process of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on international legal foundations and to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital”.
The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas described the UN Security Council resolution on Gaza as an “inadequate step” to end the conflicts. (more details)
