A member of the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Council announced the possibility of raising the level of Iran-Egypt relations, which are currently managed at the level of protecting interests, in the near future.

El-Sisi, the Egyptian counterpart, who recently became the president of Egypt for the third time and will be in this position for the next 6 years, said that the relations between the two countries have “expanded” significantly.

News was published about Ayatollah Raisi’s phone call with his Egyptian counterpart and congratulating him on his victory in the Egyptian presidential election. In this phone call, Al-Sisi announced the country’s readiness to take practical steps to resolve issues with Iran. The issues that after the victory of the Islamic revolution led to the reduction of the level of relations between the two countries and the appointment of the protector of interests in Tehran and Cairo.

Before this, the presidents of Iran and Egypt on the sidelines of the meeting of the Arab leaders and Islami met each other in Riyadh on November 20. A meeting that was preceded by the meeting of the two foreign ministers in September of this year and on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, which led to agreements on the expansion of bilateral relations. The meeting, which the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani, considered as positive and a new development in the relations between the two countries, and expressed hope that more steps will be taken in the future.

In June of this year, the Sultan of Oman visited Tehran and met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and announced Egypt’s desire to resume relations with Iran. On the 8th of June, the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq visited Egypt and met with Al-Sisi, and after that, during his trip to Tehran, in a meeting with the Supreme Leader, he mentioned Egypt’s desire to resume relations with Iran. The Supreme Leader of the Revolution announced in this regard, “We welcome this position and we have no problem in this regard.” We are now planning to “witness the improvement of relations” at the right time and according to the plan we agree on. Iran does not have any restrictions for the comprehensive development of cooperation with Egypt and welcomes the expansion of relations.

Two days before the telephone consultation between the foreign ministers of Iran and Egypt, on January 2, Amir Abdullahian, in a press conference on the sidelines of the Tehran International Conference on Palestine, agreed with his Egyptian counterpart in September to return He pointed to the normal state of relations, as well as the meeting of the presidents in Riyadh and the agreements reached, and expressed hope that at the right time, based on the design of the two foreign ministers, we will see the development and progress of relations that benefit the two countries, the region and the Islamic world.
