Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Monday that the country may join the group during the BRICS summit scheduled to be held in Russia in October 2024.

Fars News Agency International Group; “I hope that at the next meeting in (Kazan) Russia…Venezuela will join BRICS+ as a permanent member,” Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said in an interview with Le Monde newspaper on Monday.

With this introduction, Maduro added, “Venezuela relies on BRICS as part of the new balanced world”.

The BRICS mechanism consists of the world’s largest developing economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which was formed in 2009 and from Monday January 1, 2024. Iran, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia also became full members.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a speech on the occasion of the beginning of Moscow’s rotating presidency of BRICS, said on Monday that he will dedicate his presidency to the creation of a just world order and strengthening multilateralism. .

 

Argentina was also invited to become a member, but its new government rejected this invitation last week. Reacting to this decision, Nicolás Maduro said that the refusal of Argentine President Javier Milli, who is referred to as the Trump of Argentina, is a foolish act against the interests of Argentines and “this decision will set Argentina back”.
