Iran’s emphasis on a decisive response to any illegal action caused by the Zionist regime
Iran's representation in the United Nations wrote in a letter to the Security Council regarding the threats of the Zionist regime: Iran insists on a decisive response to any threats and illegal actions caused by the Israeli regime. |
According to the foreign policy group Tasnim news agency, the representative Iran wrote to the United Nations in New York in a letter to the Security Council regarding the threats of the Zionist regime authorities against Iran that the Israeli regime bears full responsibility for all international wrongdoings against Iran and must be held accountable.
The text of the letter of the Iranian delegation to the Security Council is as follows:
Following the letter dated September 25 2023 (S/2023/697) I would like to inform the members of the UN Security Council about the continuous and clear violations of international law and the UN Charter by the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran:
1. On December 30, 2023, the Prime Minister of the Israeli regime continued to threaten the use of military force against Iran, along with spreading misinformation and lies about Iran, saying: “We are always and everywhere taking action against Iran, I will not go into details.” ” He also claimed that “the goal I’ve been working to achieve for years has not changed, and that goal is to do anything — anything — to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.” These hostile words clearly violate the basic principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, especially Article 2 (4) of the United Nations Charter. It also seems that the purpose of this action is to divert attention from the ongoing crimes of the Israeli regime and severe violations of international humanitarian laws in the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestine and to evade accountability. Moreover, this aggressive and hostile stance is not unprecedented, as the Prime Minister of the Israeli regime has previously threatened to use military force. The last such violation of the basic principles of the Charter was on September 22, 2023, during Netanyahu’s speech at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which he openly threatened to use nuclear weapons against Iran. In a letter dated September 25, 2023 (S/2023/697), Iran condemned this serious violation and emphasized its importance and called for strong condemnation from the international community.
2. On December 28, 2023, Naftali Bennett, the former prime minister of the Israeli regime, in an article published by the Wall Street Journal, openly admitted Israel’s involvement in terrorist acts and sabotage inside Iran. Naftali Bennett admitted the Israeli regime’s responsibility for terrorist attacks inside Iran in making baseless accusations against Iran, which are categorically denied, and said: “As prime minister, I ordered the Israeli security forces to make Tehran pay for its decision to support terrorism.” He claimed that in February 2022, in response to Iran’s two failed drone attacks on Israel, this regime destroyed a drone base on Iranian soil. In addition, he claimed that “in March 2022, Iran’s terror team attempted to target Israeli tourists in Turkey. “A little later, the commander of the same unit was assassinated in the center of Tehran.” Such statements undeniably serve as evidence of a new crime and strengthen the international responsibility of the Israeli regime for involvement in international illegal acts as well as criminal terrorist acts on Iranian soil. Israeli authorities have openly admitted their complicity in carrying out assassinations and acts of sabotage targeting Iranian officials, scientists and civilians. In addition, the Israeli regime is involved in destructive operations and sabotage aimed at Iran’s peaceful nuclear infrastructure, which is carried out inside Iran’s borders.
3. The Israeli regime is fully responsible for all international wrongdoings against Iran and must be held accountable. The immediate condemnation and decisive action of the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, in response to Israel’s terrorist acts and destabilizing activities in the region, especially its continuous barbaric crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank of the Jordan River, is necessary because It is considered a serious threat to regional and global peace and security.
4. The Islamic Republic of Iran resolutely emphasizes its legitimate and inherent rights, which are specified in international laws and the United Nations Charter, to respond decisively to any threats and illegal actions caused by the Israeli regime. It also emphasizes the determination to exercise these rights to protect the security, national interests and people against any threat or attack.
