North Korean leader’s sister’s sharp warning to the southern neighbor
Following the recent escalation of tensions between the two Koreas, the sister of North Korea's leader warned on Sunday that the country would immediately respond militarily to any "provocative action". |
According to the report of Fars International News Agency, North Korea’s state news agency published a statement by the leader’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, in which she warned of an immediate military response from North Korea.
Since Friday last week, military tensions between North Korea and South Korea have once again made headlines, and both sides have accused the other side of provocative actions.
According to Reuters, the sister of the North Korean leader announced today that North Korea will give an immediate military response to any provocation.
(Yesterday) South Korea announced that North Korea fired more than 60 artillery shells near the disputed maritime border of the two sides in the Yellow Sea.
Last Friday, the Joint Staff South Korea reported that the North Korean military fired more than 200 artillery shells directly at South Korean islands in the Yellow Sea.
According to Seoul, this was a “provocative action by North Korea”. No casualties were reported among the South Korean military or civilians, and the two islands were immediately ordered to evacuate.
The intensification of the tensions in the relations between the two Koreas is done in a situation where America and South Korea have been holding a joint exercise on the Korean Peninsula since last week, despite the warnings of North Korea.
