According to Webangah News quoted by Tasnim News agency, Yonhap news agency quoted a source in the South Korean military as saying that the North Korean armed forces held an artillery drill on the west coast of the Yellow Sea for the third day in a row.
Accordingly, this artillery fire exercise was held in the north of Yeonpyeong Island in the Yellow Sea.
According to the announcement of the local authorities, the armed forces of South Korea also carried out a series of activities in response. They also asked local residents to be vigilant.
Yonhap clarified that the South Korean side has no plans to carry out similar action and no artillery shells belong to it. The North Korean military has not been felt south of the Northern Limit Lines, which Seoul recognizes as its maritime border. In addition, no damage has been reported so far.
The Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Army said: North Korean Army artillery on the 5th and January 6th, respectively, fired 200 and 60 cannonballs and conducted artillery exercises.
