Examining the latest status of Iran’s economic and trade relations with Pakistan and Algeria

In the 18th meeting of the headquarters of the coordination of foreign economic relations this year, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, the latest status of economic and trade relations with the countries of Pakistan and Algeria was reviewed.

According to the foreign policy group of Fars news agency, the 18th meeting of the foreign economic relations coordination headquarters this year was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and chaired by Mehdi Safari, the deputy of economic diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the agenda of reviewing the latest state of economic and commercial relations. It was held with the countries of Pakistan and Algeria and with the presence of the representatives of relevant institutions.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mehdi Safari mentioned the importance of Algeria in Africa and the very good working environment, cooperation with this country. He read about the important priorities of the African region and added: focusing on the creation of preferential tariffs, the export of technical and engineering services, cooperation in the field of transportation and energy are among the areas of interest in the joint cooperation between the two countries, which can be operational with planning and coordination between the institutions.

Then Mehdi Shushtri, Director General of West Asia and North Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented a report on the latest state of relations with Algeria and referring to the history of joint cooperation between the two countries, said that fortunately the documents A good cooperation has been signed between the two countries and currently we have 14 agreements and 25 memorandums of understanding with this country in various fields of banking, health, customs, industry and commerce, preferential trade, technology, knowledge base, etc., which we need to implement. He also activated joint commissions between the two countries, formed specialized and technical committees in the mentioned areas, removed financial and banking barriers and identified cooperation capacities in various fields. He read among the initial measures to improve the level of bilateral relations.

In the second part of the meeting, which was devoted to examining the aspects of cooperation with Pakistan, the Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed relations with the friendly and neighboring country of Pakistan. He described it as strategic and very important and asked all the organizations active in the field of economic relations with Pakistan to make their best efforts to implement the projects under cooperation.

Syed Rasool Mousavi, Director General of South Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while pointing to the positive and stable relations between Pakistan and Iran, added: Currently, there is joint cooperation with Pakistan in 11 sectors and 88 economic issues. There are some things that need to be followed up and provision of infrastructure, including in the field of free trade, organizing and equipping markets and border crossings, selling gas and oil products, and operating the gas pipeline to this country.

Mousavi also expressed hope that by holding the 22nd joint commission between the two countries in the near future, the ground for cooperation in the areas agreed upon by the parties will be provided.

At the end, Mehdi Safari emphasized on removing the obstacles in joint cooperation with the neighbors and added: by holding technical and specialized meetings, detailed and professional planning and proper timing step by step for Achieving defined goals moved forward.
