Following the signing of this agreement, Somali President “Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud” signed the law canceling the Ethiopia-Somaliland agreement. and called this agreement a clear violation of the national sovereignty and territorial unity of Somalia. became independent and called the region under their rule Somaliland (Somali land), but no country in the world has recognized Somaliland, and only one autonomous region of Somalia is recognized internationally.
The President of Somalia called the Al-Shabaab terrorist group (affiliated to the Al-Qaeda network) and Ethiopia as enemies of his country and asked the Somali people to confront these enemies in Mogadishu (the capital) be ready.
He pointed to the declaration of independence of Somaliland and the non-recognition of it by the countries of the world, he said: Ethiopia is a page The opening that we closed 30 years ago, I ask the Somali people to stand against this enmity.
Sheikh Mahmoud clarified: Ethiopia is Somalia’s enemy and (if the agreement with Somaliland is implemented) we will fight with it as we are fighting with Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
According to the New Somali newspaper, he stated: Ethiopia will never be able to encroach on a piece of Somali land because the Somali people are alive.
He asked Somalis to unite their ranks to defend their country and stand against possible Ethiopian aggression while fighting against terrorist groups including al-Shabaab.
Meanwhile, Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, “Demke Makunen”, said: “The government of Addis Ababa is under severe international pressure to cancel the Ethiopia-Somaliland agreement, but despite In the presence of such pressures, Ethiopia is determined to implement this agreement. Along with other countries, while supporting the territorial unity of Somalia, they have asked Addis Ababa to cancel the agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.
An emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab countries will be held at the headquarters of the Arab League on Wednesday this week to discuss the differences between Modgaisho and Addis Ababa regarding the Ethiopia-Somalia agreement.
This meeting will be held at the request of Somalia and with the support of 12 Arab countries.
