According to the news website “Macau Business”, several trade unions and organizations active in the field of human rights and Palestinians in Portugal include the “Portugal Peace and Cooperation Council”, “Confederation All workers of Portugal, “National Trade Union of Portugal” and “Movement to Support Palestinian Rights and Peace in the Middle East” organized the demonstration in Lisbon.

This demonstration started from the American Embassy in It started in the city of Lisbon and was carried out to the Israeli Embassy in this city.

Portuguese protesters installed a large protest banner next to the American Embassy building in the city of Lisbon, which read “America is complicit in Israel’s crimes. Ceasefire”

On another banner of this demonstration, it was written: “Joe Biden’s presidency again means World War III”. They also displayed a Palestinian flag about 20 meters long and carried various other symbols and placards condemning “genocide”, “apartheid” and “war crimes” committed by the Zionist regime.

Ines Almeida, one of the participants of this demonstration, called for the end of the war against the Gaza Strip and said that despite the fact that Portugal is a small country, demonstrations like today’s are “generally important”.

The 32-year-old continued: “Public opinion has started to change and people have realized that a genocide is being carried out. Palestine clearly deserves independence. Israel is a state that has committed genocide, occupation and killing since 1948, so it is time for us to deal with its crimes. They also participated and carried placards that read: “Not in our name!” Portuguese protesters also chanted: “America vetoes, Israel bombs,” “Always resist violence,” and “Independent Palestine, today and always!” Paulo Raimondo. The leader of the Portuguese Communist Party, who participated in the demonstration, said: “The determination and solidarity of the Portuguese demonstrators is a way to put pressure on the Israeli government and world leaders and send a message to Portuguese diplomacy. The first thing that Portugal can do is to recognize the state of Palestine with the borders of 1967 and the capital city of Quds. “You don’t have to wait for someone else to do this.” Support South Africa’s complaint to the International Court of Justice for Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip and immediately recognize the state of Palestine because it is not enough to say you support a two-state solution when you hypocritically recognize only one side.”

He continued: “The government of Israel must be stopped with sanctions, just as the apartheid government of South Africa was stopped. The world can no longer stand by and watch the massacre in Gaza, and that is why many people have poured into the streets today.”
