Central Africa: We are ready to host the Russian military base
A senior official of the Central African Republic announced that the country is ready to host a Russian military base. |
According to the Fars News Agency International Group, “Fidel Ngwandika”, an advisor to the President of Central Africa, said that the country is ready to host a Russian military base on its soil.
According to the Russian “Tass” news agency, this Central African government official said in an interview: “We would like Russia to build a base in the Central African Republic. Our government has now provided a piece of land in the city of Brengo, located 80 kilometers west of Bangui, the capital of Central Africa, for this purpose. The ceiling of 10,000 soldiers there makes it possible.
He explained the mission of these soldiers, he said: “The purpose of this Russian military presence in the Central African Republic is to train our soldiers. We have full commitment to Russia and we believe that Russia should be with us. If Russia leaves us today, the Western countries that have done nothing for our country since our independence will swallow us up. Last year, Russia’s influence and relations in the African region expanded even more, and the countries of this continent are strengthening their cooperation with Moscow more and more by cutting off their relations with Western countries that had colonized them in the past.
On August 5 and 6, the second Russia-Africa Economic Forum was held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, with the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and delegations from 49 African countries. The purpose of holding this event was to strengthen all-round cooperation between Russia and African countries in all fields, including political, security, economic, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian fields.
Russia and Africa” in St. Petersburg was evaluated as an opportunity for Russia to strengthen its position in Africa, reduce the pressure of the West and its allies on Moscow, and help Africa to free itself from the burden of colonialism.
