South Korea will rebuild 5 hydroelectric power plants of Uzbekistan

According to the agreement between Uzbekistan and South Korea, one of the country's specialist companies in the field of energy will rebuild power plants in the provinces of "Tashkend" and "Samarkand".

According to Fars news agency correspondent in Tashkent, South Korea Tae-Chang NET Co., Ltd plans to build power blocks of 5 power plants in “Tashkend” and “Samarkand” provinces with a total capacity of about 30 to rebuild MW.

In a recent meeting at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul, Ji Yingho, President of Tae-Chang NET Co. Ltd announced that they are investigating the current state of hydropower plants in cooperation with Uzbek Hydroenergy. As a result of the negotiations in September 2023, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding according to which the South Korean company has started a feasibility study for the reconstruction of 5 hydropower plants.

South Korean experts They visited Uzbekistan in October and December 2023 to determine the main parameters of the project and examine the issues of complete replacement of power blocks to improve efficiency and ensure uninterrupted operation of hydropower plants. It is also planned to hold special training courses to upgrade the skills of Uzbekistan’s electricians and engineers. Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) financial aid account announced. The preparation of the plan to go through the official application process has started with the cooperation of “UzbekHydroenergo” company.
