China/Taiwan’s ambassador’s note should return to the arms of his homeland
According to the Chinese ambassador, "Taiwan separatism" not only seriously threatens the well-being of Taiwanese compatriots and harms the main interests of the Chinese nation, but also disrupts the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait region and is a dead end. |
“Chang Hua“, the Chinese ambassador to Iran, in a note that he provided to Tasnim news agency about the issue of Taiwan elections and has examined the policy of the unified China:
After the announcement of the results Taiwan’s two regional elections in 2024, countries including Iran and international organizations have publicly expressed their adherence to the principle of the one China policy, their support for China in maintaining national sovereignty, by issuing statements, announcements and answering reporters’ questions. And the territorial integrity and great goal of the Chinese people to reunify the country and affirmed their opposition to any form of “Taiwan separatism”. The just and peaceful voice of the international community shows a broad consensus for the firm support of the United Nations Charter and the basic norms of international relations and the flow of time and the historical process. We are grateful to these countries and international organizations for their understanding and support of China’s just positions.
The historical and legal facts of Taiwan’s belonging to China have been clear since ancient times. A large number of historical documents have recorded the exploitation of Taiwan by the Chinese people in the early period. The “O” country during the “Three Kingdoms” era in the 3rd century AD and the “Sui” dynasty in the 7th century AD both sent 10,000 people to Taiwan. From the “Song” and “Yuan” dynasties until now, the central governments of China in different dynasties together established administrative bodies in “Penghu” and Taiwan and exercised the right to manage in these two regions. In 1624, Dutch colonists occupied the southern area of Taiwan. In 1662, the national hero “Jen Chenggong” drove the Dutch colonists out of Taiwan and took back the island of Taiwan. In 1684, the Qing government founded a city in Taiwan, and in 1885, it became a province, known as China’s 20th province at the time. In 1894, Japan went to war against China, this war was known as the “Jian O” war. The Qing government had to cede the islands of Taiwan and Penghu to Japan. issued which clearly stated the issue of “returning Taiwan, the stolen land of China by Japan, to China”. In 1945, Article VIII of the Potsdam Declaration, jointly issued by China, the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union, emphasized the implementation of the provisions of the Cairo Declaration. Japan declared its unconditional surrender by accepting the Potsdam Declaration. This series of documents with international legal effect was part of the international order after World War II, and it is also the historical and legal basis for determining Taiwan as an inalienable territory of China.
On October 1, 1949, the People’s Republic of China was established, replacing the government of the Republic of China, the sole legal government of China for the entire country. became china This replacement happened in a situation where China as a subject under international law did not change and China’s inherent sovereignty and territory did not change. Naturally, the government of the People’s Republic of China must enjoy and exercise the full sovereignty of China, which includes its sovereignty over Taiwan.
Due to the civil war in China and the intervention of foreign forces, both sides of the Taiwan Strait are in a special position of long-term political confrontation. But the sovereignty and territory of China was not and will not be divided. The historical and legal reality of Taiwan as part of China’s territory and belonging to both sides of the Taiwan Strait to one China has never changed and will never change.
In 1971, at the 26th General Assembly of the United Nations, Resolution 2758 was approved. The resolution affirmed that there is only one China in the world and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory and that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China.
The principle of one China is the general consensus of the international community, and compliance with the principle of one China is necessary to comply with the basic standards of international relations. The Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat clearly pointed out in its official legal opinions that “Taiwan, as a province of China, does not have an independent status” and “Taiwanese authorities do not have any governmental status”. The title used by the United Nations for Taiwan is “Taiwan, a Province of China”. Currently, China has established diplomatic relations with 182 countries based on the One China principle. On January 15 this year, the government of Nauru announced that it recognized the one-China principle, severed “diplomatic relations” with Taiwanese authorities, and wished to restore diplomatic relations with China. This issue once again fully shows that the principle of one China is in accordance with the expectations of the people and the movement of the times.
Taiwan regional elections are among China’s local affairs. Regardless of the outcome of the election, the basic fact that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China will not change, and the general consensus of the international community to adhere to the One China principle will not change. Taiwan is never a country, was not in the past and will not be in the future! “Taiwan separatism” not only seriously threatens the well-being of Taiwan’s compatriots and harms the core interests of the Chinese nation, but also disrupts the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait region and is a dead end. China will finally complete full national reunification and Taiwan must return to the motherland. We believe that the international community still adheres to the principle of one China and supports the just goals of the Chinese people, that the Chinese should oppose the separatist activities of “Taiwan separatism” and do their best to complete national reunification. /span>
