A coalition of 20 Western countries to continue supporting Ukraine

These countries should provide Ukraine with more artillery. In this way, France, Germany, the United States of America and more than 20 other countries formed an artillery coalition in Paris on Thursday to support Ukraine. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rostam Omirov, who joined the Paris conference via video, said: “There is no substitute for modern artillery, we must continue to try to increase ammunition production.” France also announced that, as a first step, its country will provide Ukraine with 50 million euros for 12 more howitzers of the Caesar type. He said that another 60 howitzers can be produced with the financial support of other countries.

This artillery coalition led by France and the United States is part of the Ramstein Contact Group. Representatives of 50 countries met for the first time at this US Air Force base in Rhineland-Palatinate in April 2022 to organize support for Ukraine in the war against Russia. The bilateral agreement with Ukraine and the delivery of new weapons had been announced. In his speech, he said that he wants to travel to Kiev in February to present this agreement. The French president also announced the delivery of 40 rockets and hundreds of other projectiles to this war-torn country. According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, France has so far given aid worth 1.7 billion euros to Ukraine.
