Syrian peace talks will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan from January 24 to 25 after the request of the representatives of the guarantor countries in the framework of the Astana process.

According to the Fars news agency reporter in Astana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported that the representatives of the guarantor countries demanded to hold a new meeting in Astana.

Despite the fact that last year The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan announced the 20th round of Astana negotiations as the last meeting, and it was decided that this process will continue.

Aibek Samadyarov, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, said: Based on the collective request of the guarantor countries, on January 24-25, 2024, the 21st international meeting of Syria will be held in the framework of the “Astana Process”. “Qanat Tomish,” deputy foreign minister of Kazakhstan, noted that the Astana process has shown the ability to maintain peace in Syria in the past 6 years.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the negotiations About Syria, it was held in New York in September of last year, and after that there was no talk about the resumption of Astana meetings.
