Guterres: The Middle East is like a powder keg

Condemning the high rate of civilian killings during Israel's attacks in Gaza, the UN Secretary General warned against the spread of conflicts in the region.

Fars News Agency International Group; UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the “painful killing of civilians in Gaza” by the Israeli army.

Guterres said in his speech at the opening of the meeting of the “Group of 77 + China” that Israel’s military operations have led to the spread of mass killings and “the killing of civilians on an unprecedented scale during my tenure as Secretary General”.

A study published by the Zionist newspaper Haaretz shows that Palestinian civilians account for 61% of the casualties in Gaza during the Israeli airstrikes. According to published data, the rate of civilian casualties in this war is higher than the rate of all world conflicts of the 20th century.

Guterres also reacted to the statements of the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime Benjamin Netanyahu in rejecting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and said: Accepting a two-state solution is completely unacceptable, and denying the Palestinians their right to a state prolongs the current conflict, which has become a threat to world peace and security.
