The risk of poverty awaits German pensioners
A German newspaper, in an article referring to the low and disproportionate income of retirees, announced the high risk of poverty awaiting a large number of this group. |
According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency newspaper “Tags” In an article citing statistics, Spiegel announced the risk of high poverty in old age and retirement for German citizens and wrote: 7.5 million pensioners in Germany have a net income of less than 1250 euros.
Accordingly, four out of every 10 pensioners in Germany (42.3%) have to live with a net income of less than 1,250 euros per month. According to calculations by the Federal Statistical Office at the request of Dietmar Bartsch, a leftist member of the Bundestag, of the approximately 7.5 million people affected by these conditions, more than 5.2 million are women, which includes more than 53 percent of all pensioners in Germany.
The German Editorial Network (RND) first reported on these numbers in a report. In its assessment, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany refers to the preliminary results of the 2022 micro-census. According to this, one out of four pensioners (26.4 percent) has a net income. A person has less than 1000 euros. Here too, the proportion of women is significantly higher. 36.2 percent of female pensioners earn less than 1,000 euros, while 13.9 percent of female pensioners earn less than 1,000 euros.
According to the German Pension Insurance report, The average gross pension for men in 2022 was 1728 euros. Women received an average of 1,316 euros.
Given these figures, left-wing politician Dietmar Bartsch spoke of a sign of poverty for his country and said: Pensioners are the main inflation losers in Germany.
He told RND that pension increases in recent years have been too small to offset current price jumps. He demanded a ten percent increase in the one-time and additional pension this year to at least compensate for inflation. who wants to soon launch the long-term pension security package that was announced months ago.
He emphasized: This draft law is on the table. And it should be implemented quickly after the approval of the budget. We are stabilizing pensions and guaranteeing the pension level.
The results of polls show that many German citizens fear that their statutory pensions will not be enough to make ends meet. Life in old age is not enough.
