America’s announcement of readiness to hold a peace meeting between Baku and Yerevan

According to the report of the international group of Fars news agency, America, in an effort to justify itself and have a greater presence in the South Caucasus region, has announced that it is ready to host peace talks between the two countries of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the website report “Radio Armenia”, “Vedant Patel”, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, stated in a press conference on Tuesday that Washington is interested in hosting talks between the republic Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Patel stated in a press conference: “This is something that the United States and the Secretary of State are interested in and this is an issue that We will try to cross the finish line in close coordination with Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and others who are working on it”.

Armenia recently criticized the policies of the West in the region and stated that America’s policy in the “Caucasus” region is to fight against Iran and Russia.

These two South Caucasus neighboring republics have fought two wars over Nagorno-Karabakh in the last 30 years. In September, Azerbaijan recaptured Nagorno-Karabakh in a blitzkrieg offensive that sent most of the 120,000 Armenian residents fleeing to Armenia.

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, also said, “Russia welcomes the joint initiative of Baku and Yerevan to normalize relations and sign a peace agreement”.

The joint statement issued by Baku and Yerevan opens new ways for rapprochement. The time of signing the peace treaty is determined by the parties themselves. We, in turn, are ready to help our partners to reach a fair agreement”.
