According to the regional office of Tasnim News Agency, Pakistani News announced that based on the official statistics of the government of Islamabad With the reduction of coal imports from Afghanistan in recent months, it has increased imports from South Africa.
This newspaper added that one of the reasons for Pakistan’s reluctance is the increase in the price of Afghan coal.
Taliban government announced last year that by increasing Afghanistan’s coal extraction and export, this group will supply 10% of Pakistan’s daily needs.
According to the news report, the price of coal from the coal terminal South Africa’s Richard Bay fell to $98 from $116 per ton.
South Africa is one of the most important exporters of coal to Europe and Asia, and all coal exports are made through the Richard Bay Coal Terminal located near the port of Durban.
The state-owned company of Pakistan has also announced that it has unloaded about 1.9 million tons of coal in the first half of this fiscal year. It costs up to 41 thousand Pakistani rupees, but in the case of Afghanistan, this cost is between 50 and 52 thousand rupees, which shows a 25% difference in price.
