According to the Fars News Agency International Group, CNN reported on Thursday morning, citing informed sources, that it is expected that Washington and Baghdad will soon discuss the future presence of American troops in Iraq.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told CNN: “The US and Iraq agreed over the summer to establish a high military commission to act as a catalyst for talks.” The discussions between the American and Iraqi officials will be like a working group, focusing on the next phase of the American coalition’s anti-ISIS operation.
This report states: It focuses on whether it is possible to end the US military presence in Iraq. America is interested in a program that is based on the internal conditions of Iraq, including the defeat of ISIS and the stability of the Iraqi government and security forces.” The talks have nothing to do with the recent attacks [by resistance groups against American bases]. America reserves the right to defend itself even during these talks.
CNN also reported, citing these sources, that America does not intend to withdraw its troops from Syria and It will not investigate such an issue either.
On Wednesday morning, American fighters attacked several bases of Al-Hashd al-Shaabi in the cities of “Jarf al-Nasr” and “Al-Qa’im” in Babol and Anbar provinces in western Iraq. They did.
“Lloyd Austin”, the American defense minister, said that in response to the ballistic missile attack on the Ain al-Assad base and the wounding of American soldiers, they targeted Kataib Hezbollah positions. (more details)
