According to the international group Tasnim News Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech referring to Regarding the approval of Sweden’s membership in NATO by the Turkish parliament, he said: Our parliament approved this issue with the majority of votes, as promised. Turkey also said: We are waiting and we hope that the result will be the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey. Turkey approved Sweden’s accession to NATO on Tuesday evening. Out of a total of 346 parliamentarians, 287 people voted in favor, 55 people voted against and 4 people abstained.
Justice and Development, People’s Republic, National Movement and Future parties voted in favor of this proposal and Good, Prosperity, People’s Equality and Democracy parties, Turkish workers and Refafa voted against this proposal.
For Sweden to join NATO, only Hungary’s positive vote remains.
