Ashraf al-Qadara, the spokesman of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, also describes the situation of Nasser Hospital as “disastrous” and informs that most of the medicines, painkillers and even food for those present in this hospital have run out since Thursday. “The hospital only has fuel for three more days.” Currently, there are 150 medical staff, more than 350 sick and wounded and hundreds of Palestinian refugees in this hospital. The Israelis have banned traffic in the city of Khan Yunis, and because of this, a number of injured people were martyred. This scenario is being repeated for other hospitals in the city, including El Amal Hospital and European Hospital.
Nurse Hassan Ziyad says knowing that the occupiers are looking to repeat the scenario of Shafa Hospital and dozens of other hospitals in Khan Yunis, he is not willing to leave the sick and injured. He witnessed that since Wednesday, the activity of some departments of this hospital has been completely stopped and some emergency surgeries are performed without light and pain medication.
In late October and last November, the Israeli military attacked Shefa Hospital in northern Gaza for several weeks, claiming the presence of tunnels and resistance structures. Under it, they surrounded and caused the testimony of a large number of displaced and injured people of this hospital due to the lack of medicine, electricity, oxygen capsules, etc. and finally, on November 16, they completely evacuated and occupied the hospital, but they were never able to prove their claim. do After the occupiers left this hospital, members of the World Health Organization visited it and described this medical center as a “death zone”.
Shafa Hospital
The Israeli army, which has been trying to take full control of the city of Khan Yunis for more than a month, has been heavily bombarding the Nasser Hospital complex, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip after Shefa Hospital, for several days, and at the same time its ground forces are trying to reach This hospital, which is operating with only 10% of its capacity, should move forward and because of this, they are fighting with the resistance forces around the hospital.
The capacity of Nasser Hospital is 350 patients, but currently there are more than a thousand patients and injured in it. and the management had to triple the number of emergency beds and increase the number of operating rooms, which were only 4 before the Al-Aqsa storm operation, to 12, and the beds in the intensive care unit from 12 to 40.
