Imran Khan and his wife were sentenced to 14 years in prison

According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, the local media of Pakistan reported that the former Prime Minister of this country, Imran Khan, along with his wife, were sentenced to 14 years in prison in the embezzlement case.
The issuance of a new sentence for Imran Khan and his wife took place just one day after that yesterday (Tuesday), Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister of this country, just a few days before the general elections in the “Cypher” case. They were sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Al Jazeera network reported that Imran Khan and his wife Bashara Bibi were sentenced to 14 years in prison in the case related to the sale of government gifts. The new verdict has been issued by an anti-graft court in Islamabad.
Imran Khan was removed as prime minister in April 2022 following a vote of no confidence by the Pakistani parliament, and then Shahbaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif’s brother succeeded him. Shahbaz Sharif’s prime ministership continued until his resignation in August, and now the government of Anwar Haq Kakar, the interim prime minister of Pakistan, is in charge of running the affairs of this country until new elections are held.
The former prime minister of Pakistan was also indicted by another court in August 2023 for the crime of selling government gifts worth more than 140 million rupees ($501,000) during his tenure as prime minister from 2018 to 2022, he was sentenced to three years in prison. Of course, this sentence was later suspended, but Khan remained in prison in connection with other cases. He said he had purchased the items legally.
Pakistani government officials believe that Khan’s advisers sold the above gifts in Dubai.
