Greek Prime Minister: Normalization of relations with Türkiye is not without turbulence

The Prime Minister of Greece stated on Wednesday that the normalization of relations with Turkey will not be without problems and in the end the two neighboring countries should live peacefully together.

According to Fars News Agency International Group, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday that he does not expect the normalization of relations between his country and Turkey to be without turbulence.

according to the newspaper “Daily Sabah” Mitsotakis said: “Anyone who believes that the rapprochement between Athens and Ankara will proceed without disruptions, I must say, is out of touch with reality and time.” /p>

The statements of the Greek Prime Minister are in the midst of his government’s agreement with the United States and efforts to gain air superiority over Turkey.

Turkey and Greece have been at odds for decades, from claims over the Aegean Sea to the rights of the Turkish minority in Greece and the island of Cyprus. After last year’s deadly earthquakes in southern Turkey, hostile rhetoric has subsided and mutual goodwill has blossomed in Turkish-Greek relations.

Turkish and Greek jets often clash in the region, although the past three years have been relatively uneventful. The purchase of “F-35” fighters from the United States by Greece and the increase of the defense budget is aimed at confronting Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Greece says which should defend the islands against a possible Turkish attack, but Turkish officials say that the militarization of these islands is provocative.

While Victoria Nuland, one of the American diplomats, said: “The United States is ready to give F-35 fighter to Turkey if the issue of purchasing the S-400 missile defense system from Russia is resolved.”

Noland said in an interview with “CNN Turk” news channel: “We were negotiating the sale of the Patriot missile defense system, and while these negotiations continue “Turkey and Greece should be able to coexist and focus on a positive agenda,” Mitsotakis said.

He said: “My intention is to visit Ankara in May.” =”rtejustify” style=”text-align: justify;”>end of message/
