Russia’s reaction to the Hague Court’s decision to reject Ukraine’s complaints

According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency quoting Interfax news agency, Dmitry Polyansky, the first deputy permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations, announced that Moscow is waiting for an official apology after the decision of the International Court of Justice in The Hague regarding the rejection of most of Ukraine’s claims against Russia regarding alleged violations of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination. All forms of racial discrimination (ICERD) and the International Convention for Combating the Financing of Terrorism (ICFT).
This morning this diplomat wrote on his Telegram channel: , the International Court of Justice proved the falsehood of the claims of the Kyiv authorities and their Western trustees, as well as some financial non-governmental organizations regarding Russia’s alleged policy of discrimination against the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea. He added that the decision of the International Court of Justice once again confirmed this fact. It proves that lies are the basis of the policy of the Ukrainian side.
On Wednesday, the International Court of Justice in The Hague dismissed almost all of Ukraine’s claims against Russia regarding non-compliance with international conventions. Rejected racial discrimination and the international convention on combating the financing of terrorism in the Donbas region and Crimea. In January 2017, Ukraine complained to the International Court of Justice against Russia regarding the violation of these two international conventions. The Russian Foreign Ministry then announced that it intended to use available legal remedies to deny the allegations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia announced yesterday by publishing a statement that the International Court of Justice did not comply with Kiev’s claim and almost all of Ukraine’s requests regarding discrimination against Tatars and rejected the Ukrainians in the Republic of Crimea, because Russia has strictly followed all the necessary norms of international law in the region of the Crimean Peninsula.
The statement explained: “The main false accusations leveled against Russia were that Kiev tried to use law enforcement actions against members of the terrorist organization “Party”. Tahrir” and the extremist organizations “Tabligh Jamaat” and “Crimea Tatar People’s Assembly” as persecution of Tatars living in Crimea based on their ethnicity, and the Hague International Court did not agree with this assessment. The court also rejected Ukraine’s false accusations against Russia of murdering and abducting Tatars and Ukrainians living in Crimea and restricting listed ethnic groups from accessing national media and participating in peaceful assemblies and demonstrations.”
In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the International Court of Justice does not recognize the reconstruction of the Khan’s Palace in Bakhchisarai as a “cultural disaster”. The court also recognized that Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians living in Crimea have full access to education in their national languages.
