Uzbekistan ranks 121st in the administrative and economic corruption index

According to the Fars News Agency correspondent in Tashkent, Uzbekistan ranked 121st among 180 countries in the Transparency International Organization’s Corruption Perception Index. This country has climbed 5 ranks in one year. The experts of this organization pointed out that comprehensive reforms should be carried out in order to further fight against corruption. In 2022, it has climbed 5 ranks. This country’s rank is the same as that of Angola, Mongolia and Peru.
On a 100-point index (where 0 is very high level of corruption and 100 is very low level), Uzbekistan scores 33 points. (31 points a year ago).
According to this report, the creation of the anti-corruption agency, as well as the completion of laws and the liberalization of the economy, are among the main measures that have been implemented in recent years. Uzbekistan has helped improve its ranking.
It should be noted that regulations and procedures have been put in place to enforce these laws and criminal charges have been brought against many corrupt officials. The government has also implemented internal control tools in various ministries and local institutions, including mechanisms to prevent bribery.
The best result in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region, which includes 19 countries. (including Uzbekistan), Georgia ranked 49th (53 points). Kazakhstan ranked 93rd with 39 points.
Belarus is ranked 98th (37 points), Ukraine is ranked 104th (36). Kyrgyzstan and Russia each scored 26 points and jointly ranked 141st.
Tajikistan ranked 162nd with 20 points and Turkmenistan ranked 170th with 18 points.
Denmark took the lead with 90 points this year. It is followed by Finland with 87 points and New Zealand with 85 points.
At the bottom of this list are Syria and Venezuela with 13 points each at rank 177 and Somalia with 11 points at rank 180. .
