The Iraqi presidency called for an emergency meeting of the country’s political leaders

According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, today (Saturday, February 3), the presidency of Iraq condemned America’s invasion of Iraqi territory this morning and called it a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty and called for an extraordinary meeting of the heads of the armed forces. This country and its political factions were asked to investigate the current developments, their consequences and adopt clear and unified positions with the aim of preserving the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the security of its citizens.

The statement of the Iraqi President’s Office, a copy of which was published on the “Baghdad Al-Yum” website, states: “The American aggression shows a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty, and an emergency presidential meeting should be held.” and political factions to discuss these developments. The US invasion of al-Qaim city in Anbar province and other Iraqi border areas in the west of the country, which led to the martyrdom and injury of a number of our citizens, is a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty. This action has been taken despite the Iraqi government’s announcement more than once that it rejects such actions, emphasizing that these attacks intensify tensions and threaten the security and stability of the region in general.”

The President of Iraq further asked all parties to “fulfill their national responsibilities for what this country has been experiencing for months and is exposed to dangers and threats that Its continuation may destroy security and stability and put the lives and safety of citizens at risk.

While this morning, the western areas of Anbar province, including the areas of “Akashat” and “Al-Qaim” in the west of this country and several civilian points in the vicinity of these areas were targeted by American fighters. and according to the announcement of the Iraqi government, 16 people including some civilians were martyred and 25 others were injured and some residential buildings and people’s personal property were damaged.

The Iraqi government also announced that the US tried to mislead the public opinion after this attack and claimed that the government of this country had made previous arrangements with Baghdad before invading Iraqi territory, which the Iraqi government called this action “misleading the international public mind.” and shunning the burden of legal responsibility for this crime.

The Central Command Headquarters of the US Army (CENTCOM), this morning in response to the killing of 3 of its soldiers in the attack on the base “Borj-22” carried out attacks on 85 points on the territory of Iraq and Syria on the border of Syria and Jordan.

In the first response to this aggression, the Iraqi resistance targeted three American military bases in Iraq and Syria and announced that, using drones and rockets, the bases of al-Tanf and al-Khadra village in Syria and the Ain al-Asad base in the west of Anbar province of Iraq.
