The Islamic Republic of Iran and Sudan announced in a joint statement on October 17 that they will resume their diplomatic relations.

The statement said: The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Sudan, following the contacts between the high officials of the two sides in recent months, decided to maintain their diplomatic relations in order to serve the interests of the two countries. take over According to the statement, the two governments agreed to develop friendly relations based on mutual respect for sovereignty, equality, common interests and peaceful coexistence. The two sides also agreed to expand their cooperation in various fields that can realize the interests of the nations of the two countries and ensure the security and stability of the region. The two sides agreed to take the necessary measures to open the embassies of the two countries in the near future and make the necessary arrangements for the exchange of official delegations to examine ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.
