America: There is no sign of North Korean military action against Seoul
A US diplomat said on Sunday afternoon that there is currently no threat from North Korea to Seoul. |
According to the report of Fars International News Agency, a senior official of the US State Department said on Sunday afternoon, Tehran time, that no signs of direct military action by North Korea against South Korea have been detected.
“Jong Pak”, the senior official of the US Department of State for North Korean affairs, in an interview with the news agency “Yonhap” said the United States continues to monitor the situation and protect its allies in the region, including Seoul and Japan.
According to this report, local sources in East Asia announced last Friday that the North Korean army fired a number of cruise missiles again towards the waters of the region.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that Pyongyang’s military fired several cruise missiles towards the Yellow Sea.
In this statement, while referring to the time of this missile test at 11:00 am (local time), it is stated that the intelligence agencies of South Korea and the United States are conducting detailed investigations on it.
This is the fourth time that the North Korean army has fired cruise missiles towards the waters of the region, which it says does not have a negative impact on the security of neighboring countries.
Previously, the Pyongyang government had announced last Wednesday that it had tested the strategic cruise missile “Huasal-2” to measure the speed of the counterattack and improve its offensive capability.
North Korea’s increase in missile tests comes amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula, with Pyongyang warning that it will respond “cruelly” to moves by Washington and Seoul.
The senior US diplomat concluded that Washington will also continue to pressure China to use its influence on Pyongyang and limit its highly provocative rhetoric.
