Fars News Agency International Group; US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh; A meeting that lasted “more than two hours”.
A US official said that the reason for the meeting is that Washington is looking for an “agreement to normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel”.
The senior diplomat of the Joe Biden administration arrived in Riyadh yesterday and went to Cairo today in the first destination of his periodic trip to the West Asia and North Africa region. He also travels to Tel Aviv and the West Bank.
Blinken has been to the region five times since the beginning of the Gaza war, while the comprehensive support of the United States to Israel continues after the Al-Aqsa storm operation.
A senior US official said a key priority of Blinken’s trip is to “send a message directly to countries in the region that the United States does not want to see an escalation of the conflict and will not escalate the conflict”.
This official, who did not want to be named, explained about why the US Secretary of State’s frequent trips to the region that “it is important to show up and say (your positions) in person”.
