Key issues in the US presidential election
Inflation, the war in Ukraine and the issue of immigrants are among the main axes of the 2024 US presidential election in a new survey. |
According to the international group Tasnim news agency, the presidential election America in 2024 will be held in November of this year in a situation where the 4-year presidency of “Joe Biden” has faced many events in the field of foreign policy, including the war in Ukraine and the war in Gaza. In domestic politics, issues such as preserving democracy, fighting inflation, and the issue of immigration are considered the most challenging issues.
The most likely competitor for Joe Biden is Donald Trump. Although the intra-party stage of the election is not over yet, Trump’s performance in the two states where the voting took place, as well as polls, indicate that he does not have much of a problem being nominated by the Republican Party.
The results of the polls show that Biden and Trump will have a close fight in a possible competition in November. In the latest poll conducted by NPR/PBS, 48% of voters preferred Biden and 47% preferred Trump.
If he is found guilty, Biden will lead with 51 percent against Trump (45 percent). Nearly a tenth of Republican voters (9 percent) said they would vote for Biden if Trump were convicted.
Preserving democracy (29 percent), inflation (24 percent) and immigration (22 percent) are the most important issues that come up more than anything else when thinking about this November’s election. Issues have come to the minds of the participants.
Of course, these statistics are slightly different for Republican and Democratic voters. For example, Democratic voters have considered preservation of democracy as their first priority, and after that, they have pointed to the issue of inflation. On the other hand, Republican voters (44%) consider immigration to be their first priority, and for them, inflation is the second priority. The issues have been explained. All these statistics are adapted from the NPR/PBS poll.
Immigration
One of the characteristics of Joe Biden’s presidency has been the tensions between the Republicans and his government over the issue of immigrants entering the United States. Republican politicians want to install fences to prevent immigrants from entering the US from the southern border, while Democrats oppose such plans.
51 percent of Americans (including 84 percent of Democrats and 55 percent of independents) believe that America’s openness to people around the world is an essential definition of American national identity. On the other hand, 42% of Americans said that if America is too open to other cultures, it will lose its identity. When the statistics are analyzed by party, 72 percent of Republicans agree with this statement.
Ukraine >
The Ukraine issue and Washington’s support for the Kiev government in the war with Russia have also been among the controversial issues in America. 34% of Americans in this poll said that the United States provides a lot of support to Ukraine. 33% said that the amount of American support is correct and 30% said that the support was low and more support is needed.
Democrats (47%) are more likely than Republicans (26%) to increase Washington’s support for Ukraine. The majority of Republicans (56%) said that the US support for Ukraine is excessive.
Biden’s popularity Trump
Statistics show that not liking Biden and Trump is also one of the basic issues of the upcoming elections. 53% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Biden, and 40% have a favorable opinion of him. Biden’s performance in this area has not changed since December.
For Trump, 55% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of him, while 40% have an unfavorable opinion of him. He has been desirable.
