According to the report of Fars News Agency International Group, news sources reported on Thursday that the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkey, which was supposed to take place next week, will take place in late April or early May was postponed.
According to the website “Turkey Minute” The local media had previously mentioned next Monday as a possible date for this visit, but there was never an official confirmation.
An informed Turkish source said about this: “Regarding the election schedule in the two countries, as you know, municipal elections will be held in Turkey and presidential elections will be held in Russia.” For this reason, it was decided to postpone Putin’s visit until the end of April.”
Turkey’s local elections will be held at the end of March and Russia’s presidential election will be held in the middle of March. .
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said that the date of Putin’s meeting will be determined taking into account election programs in Turkey and Russia.
Pskov said preparations for organizing the meeting are underway and will be announced when both sides agree on a date.
According to this report, Erdogan has been able to maintain his commercial and political relations with Ukraine and Russia. The last meeting between Putin and Erdogan was in September 2023 in the city of “Sochi” in Russia. The last time Putin visited Ankara was in September 2019.
