“Igad” demanded the return of Sudan to this organization
The Intergovernmental Organization for East African Development asked Sudan to reconsider the suspension of its membership in the organization. |
According to the international group Tasnim News Agency
, the president of Djibouti, as the rotating chairman of the East African Intergovernmental Organization “IGAD”, sent a special delegation to Sudan to convince the country’s authorities to reconsider the suspension of Sudan’s membership in IGAD.
This delegation submitted the handwritten letter of Djibouti President Ismail Omar Jileh to General Abdul Fattah Burhan, the head of the ruling council and commander of the Sudanese army.
TV network “C. J. T. China, quoting Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, announced: In this letter, Omar Jile asked the leadership of Sudan to reconsider the suspension of this country’s membership in the Intergovernmental Organization for East African Development.
Last December, Sudan protested against the violation of its national sovereignty (reviewing the country’s situation at the IGAD meeting without consulting Khartoum) and inviting the commander of the rapid response forces to participate in Nisht Igad (his recognition) suspended his membership in this regional organization.
The president of Djibouti, stating that this country is obliged to strengthen peace and stability in the region, he stated: IGAD wants to provide the necessary foundations for establishing peace and stability in Sudan and emphasizes on a party in this context.
The head of Sudan’s governing council believes that Djibouti supports the rapid reaction forces, therefore, he does not have a positive view of the country’s role in ending the internal crisis in Sudan.
Since the 26th of April last month, when the battle between the army and the rapid reaction forces in Sudan flared up, the two sides have signed a cease-fire agreement under the supervision of the United States and Saudi Arabia, but none of them have adhered to the provisions of the said agreements. Each emphasizes the elimination of the other party through military means.
