Arrest of 120 people related to PKK in Türkiye

Turkish authorities claimed that they arrested 120 people who were connected to the Kurdistan Workers' Party in 16 cities in Turkey.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerli Kaya announced the arrest of 120 people related to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party through simultaneous security operations in 16 provinces of Turkey.

According to Sputnik’s report, he said: 120 people were arrested, some of whom were active in the terrorist organization (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) in Syria, and another part participated in protest demonstrations and were found to be accomplices of this organization.

The Minister of Interior of Turkey added that these people were arrested during simultaneous security operations in 16 provinces of Turkey. On the other hand, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the neutralization of 2,120 militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and the Kurdish People’s Defense Units in northern Syria and northern Iraq during 2023.

Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which is known by the abbreviation PKK, has been fighting against the central government of Turkey for the independence of the Kurdish regions of this country since 1984. This bloody conflict has left thousands of dead and wounded.
