Western celebrations are excluded from Turkish schools

Turkey’s Ministry of Education has amended regulations on private educational institutions and now bans the celebration of Western holidays such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween.
With these changes, the goal of protecting the “national and cultural values of Turkey” has been taken and activities that are contrary to the psychosocial development of students have been banned.
The decision was made after warnings were issued to schools in December 2023 about celebrations that are incompatible with Turkish identity.
This regulation also introduces social and development activity centers that are designed to promote the social, cultural, artistic and sports development of students in addition to academic progress.
